Our collection of reverse printed, frame-less, free floating, tempered glass聽was inspired by the French technique of Verre Eglomise in which artist's literally painted the back of clear glass so that when viewed from the front the painting is brought to life under the depth of the glass. This enigmatic piece is both beautiful and a little frightening, just as its subject, the flamingo, can be. Contrasting brightly against a black field, the reddish orange of the flamingo鈥檚 plumage stands out brilliantly, ranging from a fiery tone to gentle pink. The image captures the feathers in great detail, as well as the single eye which reveals the bird itself. The eye is a pinprick of black in yellow, reminding us that this flamboyant creature is almost a feathered dinosaur and might be as capricious as the flame it resembles.
